What is the OBP?


The Occoquan Business Partners (OBP) is an partnership organization of business owners in Occoquan, Virginia with a collective goal of sharing our unique historic town with visitors and locals. By joining together to market and promote the town and Partner businesses we increase sales, visibility, and traffic for everyone. All Occoquan restaurants, shops, galleries, salons, and services businesses are welcome and encouraged to join!


The OBP aims to have an inclusive association which benefits all businesses. Partners vote on how the funds are spent and annually elects board members to lead the group and make day-to-day decisions.

Who is eligible to join?

Merchants with Town of Occoquan business licenses are eligible to join.

What benefits are included?

  • New Partner Spotlight on social media (profile on the business or special congratulations on your opening).

  • Listing on visitoccoquanva.com website (business listing plus free option to include event listings).

  • Inclusion in the email newsletter

  • (currently 4,800+ subscribers, being sent 1-2 times per month, depending on activities and events).

  • Promotion on @visitoccoquan Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (includes adding Facebook Events to the Visit Occoquan Facebook Page, sharing tagged Instagram stories, retweeting Twitter posts, and more).

  • Waived participating fee ($50-100 per event) for Partner hosted events, workshops, and activities.

  • Free or reduced rates for professional development classes through the Partners.

  • Voting rights for budget and board Partner elections.

  • Reimbursement for Occoquan Business Partners gift certificates, which can be redeemed at any Partner business. These cards never expire and businesses receive 100% of the funds used.

  • Communication about town initiatives, new businesses, grants, and other relevant information.


What are the dues?


Rates for 2022 range from $25-500 annually per business, running January 1-December 31, 2022. Prorated dues are available for first-time Partners. These are prorated by month and start on the first of the month chosen by the new Partner.


What do my dues cover?


EVENTS - The largest portion of partnership dues are spent on events. This includes print marketing such as rack cards and signage for the day of the event, digital marketing on social media and email, plus transportation (shuttle) and prizes.


MARKETING - This currently includes the cost of our email marketing system, but could also include items such as social media, advertisements, or other promotional expenses.


ADMIN/GENERAL - Includes items such as postage, credit card processing fees, ink stamps for partners, required insurance, holiday party, etc.


TECH/WEBSITE - Maintenance associated with the visitoccoquanva.com website, G Suite fees, etc.

Who runs the OBP?

You do! This is a partnership organization where Partners vote on all major decisions. The Partner-elected Board of Directors makes day-to-day decisions, mostly regarding events coordination and specific marketing efforts.

Partners of all levels are welcomed and encouraged to attend Partner meetings and social events, to volunteer for events, and to get involve, network and support other business owners in Occoquan.
