Community: Meet your neighbors and forge new friendships with the people who live in and around Occoquan.

Service Hours: students and adults who need school or community services hours are encouraged to volunteer through our various programs!

Givers Gain: Studies show volunteering improves physical and mental health and creates a stronger sense of belonging.

T-Shirts: Maybe you just want an awesome festival t-shirt? That's cool. We're happy to have you on the team!

who volunteers

Ages: Several positions are available for kids and teens who wish to serve!

Time: Many of our volunteers help out just once or twice a year, while others wish to serve in more consistant roles.

Accessibility: Many positions can easily accommodate wheelchair users and volunteers with limited mobility.

Talents: Maybe you love engaging with the public or doing something creative. Or maybe you prefer you build displays or pick up trash. There's a little something for everyone!

Invasive Species Clean Up

Meet at Town of Occoquan, 314 Mill St, Occoquan, VA

  • Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 9am-12pm

  • Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 9am-12pm

  • Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 9am-12pm

Join us for a hands-on day of protecting our local environment! Invasive species—plants that spread rapidly and disrupt native ecosystems—can crowd out the plants that belong here in Occoquan. Together, we can make a visible difference in just a few hours while enjoying fresh air, community spirit, and the satisfaction of helping nature heal.

mill house museum

The Occoquan Historical Society seeks volunteers to assist in the Mill House Museum & Visitor Center. The museum relies on volunteers who welcome visitors regularly but also assistants who can pitch in during events and peak times. There are many behind-the-scenes roles for a variety of tasks. No previous experience is needed for most roles, just a willingness to learn and a desire to help. We hope you'll come be a part of our museum community!
