Spring is gearing up in Occoquan and our businesses are finding lots of reasons to celebrate the warmer weather (as soon as it decides to show up...).
Town Events
Occoquan Annual PEEPS Show (April 1-4) - Vote for your favorite marshmallow made creations through historic Occoquan from Wednesday, April 1 through Saturday, April 4! Community diorama's can be viewed at Occoquan Town Hall from 10am-4pm daily. Business made dioramas can be viewed inside businesses or in their windows through the week as well! Vote for your favs and be entered to win Visit Occoquan gift cards to use around town.
Occoquan Shad Run (April 11) - Calling anglers of all ages—the shad are coming! Try your hand at fishing in the Occoquan River during the 2026 Occoquan Shad Run on Saturday, April 11 from 9am-12pm. You are invited to cast a line along River Mill Park, fish from the riverbanks (in approved areas), from the footbridge, or launch a kayak or boat and fish right from the water!
Gallery Features
Patti Durbin is April's artist of the month at Artists' Undertaking Gallery (309 Mill Street). Patti is a mixed media artist who uses cloth, canvas and copper to capture the very spirit of her subjects, often strong women celebrating their beauty, each with their own personality.
At The Loft Gallery you can see Janet Hansen Martinet's exhibit ‘Watercolorful.’ For this show, Janet has created watercolor collage pieces with two different kinds of rice paper. You will find misty seascapes, moody landscapes, mysterious flowers and cunning creatures. Head to the Meet the Artist Reception on Saturday, April 18 from 1-4pm.
Ink & Watercolor Landscapes Workshop (March 30) - Join Mike Flynn at the Loft Gallery (313 Mill Street) as you blend ink & watercolor to create a stunning landscape! Perfect for beginner and experienced artists. Bring: pencil, eraser, 12x18” backing. $65 to participate. Register by emailing oflynn50@gmail.com
Spring Fling! (April 4) - Enjoy refreshments and artwork inspired by nature’s beauty at Art a la Carte Gallery (311 Mill Street)! Come see our creative PEEPS Show diorama by Tara Shimberg (2nd-place winner last year!). Spend $10 for a chance to win it! Talk to our artists and stay for fun art demos.
ART Painting Class - Join Laura Jones Fine Art Gallery (125 Mill Street) for oil painting class weekly at the same time and day, either Thursday evenings 6:00-7:30pm or Friday afternoons. Learn basic skills in our new studio overlooking the Occoquan River. Supplies included. Ages 16+.

Brunch with the Easter Bunny (April 5) - Happy Easter! Easter Sunday Brunch is coming to D'Roccos Restaurant (301 Mill Street) and you don’t want to miss it!
